The kukri earned its reputation in the hands of the Gurkha regiments — soldiers so respected that their curved blade became a symbol of resolve itself. In the Second World War, Gurkha units fought through North Africa and Italy as part of the Allied campaigns that Dwight D. Eisenhower commanded before he became the 34th President of the United States. This knife takes his name as a tribute to that alliance: the commander's steadiness, and the blade his soldiers trusted.

The blade is forged from D2 tool steel — a hard, stubborn steel most makers won't put under a hammer, chosen for one job: keeping its edge through work that would dull lesser knives. Nearly ten inches of it, 5.5 millimeters thick at the spine, with the kukri's forward-curved profile doing what it was designed to do — turning the blade's own weight into chopping power. Clearing camp, splitting kindling, processing game: the geometry works with you.

The handle is built the old way — stacked leather washers, compressed and shaped, separated by polished brass spacers. Leather grips when it's wet, warms to your hand when it's cold, and darkens over years of field use into a record of everywhere the knife has been. A curved guard keeps your fingers where they belong; the bird's-head pommel locks your grip on the hard swings. At 500 grams, it lands with authority and still balances close enough to the guard for control. The vertical leather belt sheath keeps it riding secure until the work starts.

Caring for Your Eisenhower Kukri:

D2 tool steel resists rust far better than carbon steel, but it isn't stainless — treat it like the working tool it is. Wipe the blade clean and dry after use, and give it a light coat of oil before long storage. Condition the leather handle and sheath once or twice a year with leather balm. A few minutes of habit, decades of blade.
